How coins work.
Coins are the in-app currency that power calls, mood matches, and gifts on Vesper. This page explains what coins cost, what you can spend them on, how hosts earn a share, and exactly how earnings are paid out — including every fee and tax.
01What coins are
Coins are Vesper's in-app currency. They are used to unlock paid features inside the app — voice call minutes, mood matches beyond the free daily quota, and gifts sent to hosts. One coin is worth about ₹1 of in-app value.
Coins are a prepaid digital credit for use inside Vesper. They are not money, not a bank deposit, not a stored-value wallet you can transfer to another person, and they cannot be redeemed for cash — except for coins a host has genuinely earned by providing a service on Vesper Connect, which can be withdrawn as described below.
02Buying coins
You buy coins inside the app through Apple In-App Purchase (on iOS) or Google Play Billing (on Android). Apple or Google process the payment, collect any applicable tax, and are the seller of record for the transaction. Vesper never sees or stores your card details.
Coins are sold in fixed packs. Prices are set by the app stores and may vary slightly by region and currency; the in-app store always shows the exact price before you pay.
| Pack | Coins | Approx. price (India) |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 20 | ₹29 |
| Small | 50 | ₹69 |
| Regular | 100 | ₹139 |
| Plus | 150 | ₹209 |
| Pro | 250 | ₹349 |
| Max | 500 | ₹699 |
Coin purchases are consumable — once added to your balance and spent, they are used up and are not restored across devices.
03What coins are spent on
Every user gets a free daily allowance first. Coins are only charged once you go beyond the free tier:
- Voice calls — 1 coin per minute, after your free daily calls are used.
- Mood Match — 5 coins per match, after your free daily match is used.
- Vesper Connect calls — 2 coins per minute to talk with a host (the first few minutes are free for every user).
- Gifts — optional coin gifts you can send to a host during a Connect call.
The app shows your balance and the cost of any paid action before it starts. Coins already spent are non-refundable.
04Earning as a host (Vesper Connect)
Vesper Connect is a marketplace where any eligible user can choose to go online as a host and take 1:1 voice calls from other users. Hosts are independent participants, not employees of Vesper — they decide if and when they go online, and they earn only when another user chooses to call them.
- When a user spends coins on a host — call time or gifts — the host earns a 50% share of those coins. Vesper retains the other 50% as its platform fee.
- Earned coins accumulate in the host's Connect Earnings balance, separate from purchased coins.
- Earned coins are the only coins that can be withdrawn for real money.
Hosts are responsible for their own taxes on the income they earn through the platform.
05Withdrawing earnings
A host can withdraw their earned coins as real money to their own bank account or UPI:
- Minimum withdrawal: 10 coins (₹10).
- One-time setup: the host adds and verifies a payout destination — either a UPI ID or a bank account (account number + IFSC). Bank accounts are verified against the account-holder's name before any money is sent.
- Payout provider: transfers are processed by Cashfree Payments, an RBI-authorised payment aggregator in India. The money is sent from Vesper's account to the host's verified destination.
- Timing: most transfers arrive within minutes to a few hours once approved; occasional delays can occur based on the destination bank.
This withdrawal is payment to the host for a real-world service they provided (their time and conversation). It is not a sale or resale of coins, and it does not use Apple or Google in-app purchases for the payout.
06Fees and taxes on withdrawal
A small transfer fee applies to each withdrawal, charged by our payment provider and inclusive of 18% GST. The exact fee for your amount is always shown before you confirm. Indicative fees:
| Method | Up to ₹1,000 | ₹1,000–₹10,000 | Above ₹10,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| UPI | ₹4 | ₹8 | ₹12 |
| IMPS (to bank) | ₹3 | ₹6 | ₹12 |
TDS (Tax Deducted at Source): where required under Indian tax law, TDS may be deducted from a host's earnings. In practice, most hosts see no TDS on ordinary withdrawals, as it only becomes applicable once earnings reach the threshold set by the Income Tax Act. If any TDS applies to your earnings, the exact amount is shown at the time of withdrawal, deducted then, and deposited with the government on your behalf — you can claim credit for it in your income-tax return. Providing a valid PAN ensures the correct (lower) rate is applied. Hosts remain responsible for their own income tax on what they earn.
The transfer fee and any applicable TDS are shown and deducted at the time of withdrawal, so the amount credited to your bank is always clear up front.
07Refunds
Coin purchases are handled by Apple and Google, and any refund of a coin purchase is subject to their policies — requests are made through the App Store or Google Play, not through Vesper directly.
Coins that have already been spent inside the app cannot be refunded. Earned coins that have been withdrawn to a bank account or UPI cannot be reversed once the transfer completes. If a withdrawal fails, the coins are returned to your Connect Earnings balance so you can try again.
